If you want to be kind to yourself-or to others-here is a list of electric bikes you should check out.

Electric bicycles have been the hottest traffic trend in 2021, and there is no sign of slowing down in 2022. They make work easier, more convenient and fun to explore the outdoors, of course, they can also help you avoid the simple task of getting in the car to get eggnog. (Did I mention that I hate eggnog!?)

First, there are countless styles of electric bicycles, including: mopeds and motorcycles, commuter vehicles, and road and off-road models. Most importantly, there are hundreds of different brands on the market, which means that starting the shopping process can be a bit overwhelming. In addition, there are many important specifications that need to be tracked. There are motor output, battery specifications, charging time, frame size, range, weight, price, and of course there are some cool factors that need to be figured out.

For all those who are eager to join this trend, I have created a list of my favorite electric bikes so far. In the list, I have included many different styles of bicycles, including the models that I think are the best in their given market segments.

This motorcycle style model is different from most other electric bikes, it is equipped with two batteries and two motors! A 52V, 20Ah battery is between the rider's feet, and the other 52V, 15Ah battery is located under the seat. As for power, the Grizzlies have a pair of 1,000-watt hub motors, one for each wheel. Taken together, all of these will have a severe performance impact. With the exception of the ability to accelerate to 36 mph and an estimated range of 35 to 75 miles (depending on conditions and speed), this thing can climb almost any dirt mountain. It is guaranteed to make you laugh from ear to ear. Oh, I forgot to say that this thing will peel off-if you slam on the accelerator, the front tires will actually slip. The bear roars!

What I like most about Ariel Rider Grizzly is that you don't have to use two batteries at the same time. If you are out and about and one battery is dead, you can still use the second battery to go home. This bike will be a bit slower when using a battery, but if you have a lot of errands to run, it would be great to have a backup bag.

Before you press Ariel’s "Add to Cart" button, please pay attention to some things here. This motorcycle-style frame is a bit smaller than your regular bicycle, so if you are more than 6 feet 8 inches tall, it will not be very comfortable to ride. In addition, rider Ariel weighs 105 pounds, so if you have a two-story apartment without elevator, this bike may not be for you. (Again, maybe you can ride up those stairs? Think again, no-don't try!)

Given all its features, Grizzly's price is very favorable, especially when compared to the very popular Super73 RX and other models. The retail price of Grizzly is US$3,299, and there are more boxes checked than RX. If you decide to choose Grizzly, I will definitely buy Long Seat so you can take someone with you on your next adventure. This is one thing I wish to have.

LeMond Prolog is one of the best electric bikes on the road (even in Rosa matte pink!). This road-style electric bike was designed by three-time Tour de France champion Greg Lemond (Greg Lemond), so you know it has some excellent advanced features.

First of all, this bike is mainly made of carbon fiber, including frame, front fork, monocoque handlebars, custom fenders and seatposts. In fact, you can even choose carbon braided wheels with Tune hubs as an upgrade. With all this, you will get a bike that weighs only 26 pounds! You should be able to install it into your second floor apartment easily with this bike. Next, Prolog has a cruising range of 45 miles, thanks to its 36V, 250W Panasonic battery and Mahle M1 250w rear hub motor. This is enough range for you to have some hills on your way to and from get off work. Prolog is a category 1 electric bicycle, which means that it will assist the rider when pedaling at speeds of up to 20 mph. Finally, if you need help on these hillsides, this bike is also equipped with an 11-speed Shimano transmission system. Shimano's Di2 electronic transmission can be used as an upgrade, but I will eventually skip this option because I have not trusted the electronic transmission system yet.

As I mentioned, Prolog is arguably one of the best looking electric bikes on the market, mainly because it doesn't look like an electric bike at all. It can be integrated with almost any ordinary bicycle. The battery is well hidden in the down tube of the frame, and the motor is barely visible in the rear wheel hub. Also great is that LeMond is ready to use out of the box, with a set of perfectly integrated front and rear lights. Most importantly, this bike has three different sizes for you to choose the right size. Prolog is ready to bring some style to your commute.

Prolog has ultra-light carbon fiber components, application integration, and beautiful design, starting at $4,500. It's a lot, but it feels worth it, because this electric bike is amazing.

If you are looking for an electric bike that is comfortable, efficient and easy to ride, the Ultimate Gazelle C380 Plus is the electric bike you want. This commuter-style Class 3 electric bike can assist the rider at speeds up to 28 mph, unconsciously shifting through the Enviolo 380 Trekking Manual and the maintenance-free Gates Belt transmission, making riding a breeze.

Ultimate C380 Plus makes riding extremely easy with its comfortable riding posture. The bike’s upright posture makes it easier to ride for longer periods-no more waist or shoulder soreness!

C380 Plus is equipped with a mid-drive Bosch high-performance motor. The mid-drive motor is more powerful than the hub motor, but it is slightly noisier. In general, it's not a big deal. Bosch motors can help riders reach a speed of 28 mph, which is very useful when you encounter city traffic or need to be in a hurry. A 500 Wh battery is installed in the lower tube of the frame, and the cruising range can reach 42 miles. In addition, if you want to put the bicycle outside and charge the battery inside, the battery pack is detachable.

When it comes to shifting gears, the Enviolo 380 Trekking Manual makes things easier. Very similar to the system on the Lyft shared bicycle, Enviolo is a continuously variable transmission system, which is different from the traditional flywheel, chain and derailleur on most bicycles. Enviolo's continuously variable planetary gear is similar to the continuously variable transmission (CVT) in many modern cars because the transmission ratio can fluctuate within a range without having to skip a limited number of fixed gears. When the shift lever on the right grip is twisted, you can change the ratio to get the best pedaling effect. This design is easy to use, unlike the traditional 10-speed temperament. You can shift gears under load when parking, idling, and uphill, all of which are seamlessly run in the background by the system.

Finally, there is the Gates belt drive. If you have tried to maintain a bicycle chain, you will know how painful it is. Cleaning, lubricating and/or replacing the chain is not an interesting project, and it can be an expensive maintenance job at your local bike shop. On the C380 Plus, you never have to worry about performing any operations, because the Gates Belt is always maintenance-free. This is great.

The vehicle weighs 62.3 pounds and is ready to use out of the box, including front and rear lighting and AXA Defender Ring locks. However, the latter is not a perfect system because it only locks the rear wheels. I recommend buying a U-lock on the top of the AXA for maximum security.

All in all, the Gazelle Ultimate C380 Plus sells for $4,749, but I will definitely consider adding a basket so you can bring some groceries or your puppy. Be sure to check my video on Gazelle C380 Plus.

Did you see that mound? You can skip that. Do you see that ledge? It can be discarded. Sur-Ron Light Bee is an all-terrain monster. Whether you plan to climb the mountain or want to play on the street, Light Bee can guide your inner Evel Knievel.

Light Bee combines the genes of downhill mountain bikes and off-road motorcycles. The front and rear of the bike look like a standard mountain bike, although the swing is wider and the 70/100-19 tires are more aggressive. To help reduce the impact, you will find an 8-inch travel RST Killah front fork at the front, and a DNM TR link suspension at the rear that provides 3.4 inches of travel.

Under the rider's feet, you will find a pair of foot spikes. Guys, there are no pedals here. Instead, the throttle is a twist grip, so you can quickly get started with a light wave of your right wrist.

Between the rider's legs, like on a gasoline off-road vehicle, you will find the battery (usually where the fuel tank is), and below, the motor is located near the pedals. The removable battery is a huge 60V/32A lithium-ion battery pack. The mid-drive motor designed by Sur-Ron can provide a peak output of 6,000W and a huge torque of 29 pound-feet!

Light Bee is also equipped with FOC sine wave controller unit, which can learn and continuously analyze your daily riding style to help make the bicycle's power system more in line with your riding habits. All in all, Light Bee claims a top speed of 47 mph and a range of 20 to 60 miles.

Light Bee weighs 123 pounds. Quite large, but the central location of the battery and motor should help improve maneuverability, including letting the front wheels hang in the air. Yes!

Finally, bicycles have two riding modes, sports and ecological. What's really cool is that in sports mode, you have automatic regenerative braking, which helps restore kinetic energy and refill the battery with juice. In addition, Light Bee is equipped with an LCD speedometer and front and rear LED lights.

All in all, the price of Sur-Ron Light Bee is US$4,100. Hope you like getting dirty, you dirty animal.

The Mosh CTY electric bike comes from Serial 1, which is a derivative product of the legendary motorcycle company Harley-Davidson. But listen to me, because this thing doesn't look or sound like Harley.

Mosh CTY is an adventurous commuter electric bicycle. Thanks to its 2.8-inch Schwalbe Super Moto-X tires, this single-speed racing car is happy to wheel and pop curbs. Mosh also has a mid-drive Brose S Mag motor, and the battery is located in the center of the frame to improve maneuverability.

Brose motors can help riders travel at speeds of up to 20 mph (level 1) and provide up to 66 pound-feet of torque through a maintenance-free Gates belt drive. The bike is powered by a 529 watt-hour battery pack, which is well integrated into the frame. Taken together, the Mosh CTY has an estimated range of 35 to 105 miles. This is a wide range, which varies greatly depending on factors such as terrain and rider weight.

Mosh CTY has a very modern appearance. I particularly like the Vans-like blue checkerboard pattern scattered around the aluminum frame, and the clean, simple appearance of a single speed. All in all, this bike weighs only 48.3 pounds, which is neither the lightest nor the heaviest bike in the rack. This bike comes in three sizes, so you can find the one that suits you best. This is very important!

The price of this bicycle is US$3,800. It may also be worth checking out other models of Serial 1, namely Rush CTY Speed. It is faster and more commuter-centric. You can read a more in-depth review of these two bikes here: Series 1: Riding Harley-Davidson’s new Rush CTY Speed and Mosh CTY electric bikes

If you want to commute and drive on the beach, Rad Rover 6 Plus may be for you. Not only is it versatile, but it also looks cheap.

What I like most about RadRover 6 Plus is its appearance. Considering its price, you would not think that an electric bike looks so good-usually you have to pay a high price for that kind of thing. The RadRover’s overall geometry, semi-integrated 672 Wh battery, and the square edges of the 6061 aluminum frame make the electric bike look sturdy. Battery placement and integration are usually design elements that determine success or failure for me. Here, the battery pack is by no means a thorn in the eye. I also like charcoal paint, orange splashes on the frame and wheels. This Rad Power bike is stylish and modern. A set of sturdy Kenda Juggernaut 26x4 tires really help to complete the look perfectly. The bicycle weighs 74.3 pounds in total.

Let's dive into some details. RadRover 6 Plus is a class 2 electric bike, which means it should be able to reach 20 mph with half-twist accelerator or pedal assist. Of course, if you want, you can definitely go faster. The RadRover 6 Plus is powered by a 750W brushless gear hub motor. To help pedal assist and those not very interesting hills, the bike is equipped with a 7-speed Shimano Altus transmission.

To monitor your riding, you will find a backlit LCD in the center of the handlebar. On the screen, you can view the charge indicator, speedometer, odometer, trip odometer, pedal assist level, clock, etc. To turn on the bike, change the pedal assist level of the bike, check the battery charge status, and turn on the lights, you can use the easy-to-view remote control on the left handlebar.

RadRover 6 Plus is also equipped with a RST spring fork with 2.4 inches of travel, as well as locking and preload adjustments, making aggressive terrain easier to manage and comfortable. To keep it clean, the bicycle is equipped with front and rear mudguards.

Finally, the biggest selling point of RadRover 6 Plus may be its price: $1,999. If you decide to use this bike, I also recommend that you check out the company's accessories. Notable options include a rear rack, a large front basket, and a USB charging port.

Gocycle G4i looks like it came out of a Star Trek movie. With its stylish carbon fiber frame, magnesium five-spoke magazine and foldable structure, you really feel like you are riding in the future.

Generally speaking, nothing is better than designing a product from scratch. Most electric bicycles today are assembled from third-party components, but G4i is not. This bike is the idea of Richard Thorpe, who was a design engineer for the exotic car company McLaren. He designed every inch of the G4i, and you can feel this on the handlebars. This bike is comfortable and easy to ride, the only exception is that its throttle is on the left instead of the right, which is unconventional. You can read more about it in my G4i review.

This commuter-centric electric electric bicycle can be folded in 25 seconds and weighs 37 pounds, which is about half the weight of an ordinary electric bicycle. This makes this model a potentially great choice for people who take a train or need to store their bicycles in the office.

The G4i is a level 2 electric bicycle, which means it can provide electric pedal assistance up to 20 mph. If you are not going to pedal, it also has a throttle. Powering your office is a removable 375 watt-hour (10.4 amp-hour) lithium-ion battery pack that can deliver juice to a front-mounted hub motor that can provide 500 watts of power. All in all, your estimated range can be up to 50 miles, but it depends on many factors, including the rider's weight and output, not to mention the terrain.

Also worth noting is the G4i's electronic predictive shifting system. This technology can sense the rider's speed and position the gears in the correct position for optimal pedaling, which is no different from the automatic transmission in most cars.

Between the throttle and the electronic shifter on the lever, you will find a simple LED instrument panel. The reading shows the battery level, gear, light status and speed of the bicycle with red and blue dots. Its appearance is very futuristic. Below the LED dashboard on the right is a USB port, which is useful if your phone’s battery is low. However, it is only a 1 amp port, so you won't get too much juice.

G4i is also equipped with GocycleConnect, which is an iOS and Android compatible application that connects the bicycle to your phone via Bluetooth. The app allows you to control the three riding modes of the bicycle (city, environmental protection and on-demand), and even create your own custom riding modes. You can also view information about battery power, travel distance, equivalent MPG, calories burned, average speed, odometer, and average wattage.

Excellent design and foldable convenience come at a price. The price of G4i is 4,999 US dollars. There is also the more expensive G4i Plus, which adds lighter carbon fiber wheels for $5,999.

The still Serial 1 Mosh CTY.

You have it. Some of my favorite electric bikes I tested this year. Any of the rides mentioned here are great electric bike options. I look forward to seeing you on the street...or on the dirt!
