Niu showcased a number of new models at EICMA in Milan, including the electric scooter MQi GT Evo with a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour and the city electric motorcycle RQi. The Chinese manufacturer also showcased micro-mobile products such as electric scooters and electric bicycles at EICMA for the first time.

All in all, Niu will launch six new models in Milan: RQi electric motorcycles, two electric scooters named MQi GT Evo and NQI GTS, KQi2 electric scooters and BQi electric bicycles. In Europe, two of the three scooters (MQi GT Evo and NQI GTS) and electric scooters will be launched on March 1. Electric motorcycles and electric bicycles will be launched in mid-2022.

Let's take a closer look at the novelty: MQi GT Evo is the latest representative of Niu's M series. It has been completely redesigned visually, with a top speed of 100 km/h and a sprint time of 3.3 seconds from 0 to 50 km/h. This top performance is achieved through a 5 kW hub motor and two removable 26 Ah batteries (72 volts). Niu has a range of up to 100 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be fully charged in less than four hours. Other features of MQi GT Evo include four color options, keyless ignition and electric anti-theft steering wheel lock. Niu stated that its price is 4,999 euros-"including three years of connectivity and application services."

MQi GT Evo embodies many new achievements of Niu. This is the fastest electric scooter of the Chinese company to date, with the most powerful hub motor to date, and for the first time achieved a higher battery voltage (72 volts instead of 48 volts) than the previous model.

With RQi, Niu also launched a new electric motorcycle for the city of Milan, which has been previewed at the 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show. The drive consists of a 5 kW chain motor and two removable 36 Ah batteries (72 volts). The only performance data Niu mentioned is a top speed of 110 km/h. Through the newly developed "start mode", the rider should be able to improve in a short time. The Chinese again set the battery charging time to less than four hours. Another feature of RQi is the newly designed front and rear cameras. The price is 6,999 Euros.

Next is NQi GTS, which is being upgraded for the 2022 model year. The model is equipped with a newly developed "V-engine" that can accelerate the scooter to more than 80 km/h. The range is 70 kilometers. Niu offers a range of 70 kilometers and a price of 3999 euros.

At the same time, Niu is entering the scooter market. Earlier this year, the manufacturer launched the first example called KQi3, which will be found in retail stores in Europe and the United States in the spring. The KQi2 currently on display at EICMA is the youngest member of the electric scooter family: up to 25 km/h, priced at 499 Euros.

Niu has also entered a new market with BQi electric bicycles. This model has a 250 W Bafang motor and a single gear transmission. The maximum cruising range of the electric pedal assist system is 100 kilometers. The manufacturer says the top speed is 25 km/h and the price is “less than 1,500 Euros”.

Finally, Niu also focused on a hybrid motorcycle called YQi at the Milan Motor Show, which combines a liquid-cooled 150 cc gasoline engine and a centrally placed 2,400 watt electric motor. According to the accompanying statement, the pair is said to have achieved "the highest speed and acceleration time, otherwise it can only be found on motorcycles over 250 cc". The mass production YQi is expected to be launched in the first half of 2023.

"We believe we can convince die-hard fans of gasoline motorcycles that the future lies in electric vehicles. YQi is a motorcycle that can help bridge the gap," said Niu co-founder Token Hu.

Like all other Niu scooters, the new car will be equipped with a prepaid SIM card from Vodafone, allowing 24/7 connection to the Niu app. The app provides riders with real-time information, such as GPS, anti-theft and remote tracking, and a help center. At the same time, the scooter regularly updates the latest software through wireless updates.
