There is no doubt that EICMA 2021 is a very special event. Not only did it come back after being absent for a year due to the global pandemic, it also made a sensation. In addition, the bicycles on display are undoubtedly impressive, many of which not only represent the 2022 model year, but also the entire future of two-wheel mobility.

I'm sure that many of you have also noticed how many electric motorcycles and scooters are on display at the expo. Many of these are concept bicycles, which will not be put into production until a few years later. Nevertheless, this is undoubtedly a credible glimpse into the future prospects of motorcycle manufacturers, large and small. One company that caused a sensation on EICMA is the Taiwanese electric car company Ottobike Group. Under the Ovaobike brand, the company seeks to launch various electric two-wheelers for various types of commuting.

On display are an electric mountain bike, a city electric bike and a BMX style children's electric bike. However, among all the two-wheelers on display, CR-21 seems to be the most powerful competitor for mature motorcycles. CR-21 has a stylish and retro modern aesthetic, which is undoubtedly Ovaobike's interpretation of futuristic cafe racers. It uses a minimalist style and all the key visual features of a cafe racer, with round LED headlights, a short tail, and a muscular artificial fuel tank. It is probably where the bicycle's precision electronic modules are located.

From a performance point of view, Ovaobike claims that the performance of the CR-21 is similar to a 300cc internal combustion engine. It is powered by a DC brushless motor with a peak power of 11 kW-about 15 horsepower, which is more like a 150cc to 200cc machine than Ovaobike claims to be 300cc. Given its performance data, the company claims that it can reach a top speed of 80 miles per hour. However, if you keep on the gas pedal, don't expect to run too far, because Ovaobike recommends that you drive at a steady speed of 30 miles per hour to make the most of its claimed 143 miles of cruising range.

All for a more environmentally friendly tomorrow:

Regardless of performance, the CR-21 is equipped with a 41 mm upside-down front fork, which is used in conjunction with a single rear shock absorber with adjustable preload. Both ends of it are equipped with Brembo disc brakes and equipped with ABS. CR-21 rolls on standard 17-inch front and rear wheels and is made of Maxxis rubber. Last but not least, it has a full-color TFT display and a smart key system.
