Leading electric scooter manufacturer NIU has participated in the EICMA 2021 Milan Motorcycle Show, showing several new models of electric two-wheelers, including some of the company's major new firsts.

The new models on display at the show today include the new MQi GT EVO, RQi Sport, NQi GTS, YQi and BQi KQi.

MQi GT EVO pushes NIU into the field of electric scooters faster than the brand has ever been, with a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).

This scooter is equipped with NIU's most powerful hub motor to date, providing 5 kW (6.7 hp) of power. The power supply is provided by a pair of 72V 26Ah batteries, with a cruising range of up to 85 kilometers (53 miles). These new batteries also allow NIU to reach higher voltages than we have seen on the company's previous electric scooters.

As explained by Chief Innovation Officer Token Hu, MQi GT EVO has been redesigned from the inside to the outside compared with the previous MQi model:

"When we sat down to build the EVO, we had a goal in mind-from the moment you step on the accelerator, this bike must be fun."

It sounds like NIU has achieved this, peddling 0-60 km/h track time in less than 6 seconds and claiming to surpass its gasoline-powered competitors.

Not only additional power, NIU also added many new features to the scooter, such as keyless start, electric anti-theft steering column lock and application-enabled shared profile, allowing riders to share the scooter with their family without a key. And a new TFT color display.

MQi GT EVO is priced at 4,999 Euros in Europe, including three years of connectivity and application services.

Some countries/regions offer incentives to lower the price to around 4,000 Euros, which is much lower than the prices of competing gas-powered products such as the 125cc Vespa.

NIU also displayed its latest version of the RQi Sport electric motorcycle. The project debuted at the 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show and was postponed due to the pandemic, but it seems to be getting closer to production. The original RQi was said to have a top speed of 160 km/h (100 mph), but this version is now expected to lag behind Sport, which will be released at a top speed of 110 km/h (68 mph). RQi Sport is more like a city-oriented electric motorcycle, which is fast enough to drive on larger city highways and typical city streets.

Power is provided by a 5 kW central motor and chain drive. A pair of removable 72V 36Ah batteries can provide nearly 5.2 kWh of stored energy, and can be charged from a typical household wall socket via NIU's fast charger within 4 hours.

A "start mode" will also be provided to provide additional power when accelerating to help the rider overtake the car when the light turns green. As Token explained, "We want to provide the rider with crazy torque without affecting the normal commuting range, and the start mode is our answer."

RQi Sport starts at 6,999 Euros in Europe.

NIU has also updated a new motor called V-MOTOR on its NQi GTS electric scooter, which can now push the scooter to "over 80 km/h" (or 50 miles for us Americans) /Hour).

NIU said that despite the new higher power, the scooter can still maintain a range of 70 kilometers (43 miles) per charge.

The scooter has also been updated with a color TFT screen, similar to the screen on the MQi GT EVO and RQi Sport. The price of NQi GTS is 3,999 Euros.

I have a special love for NQi, although I may be biased, because it happens to be my daily driver.

NIU also showed off its new electric scooter, which extends the KQi3 that was launched earlier this summer.

KQi2 provides a more portable version of the scooter, which can reduce the weight of riders who usually carry a scooter up stairs or on a train.

On the other hand, NIU is launching the KQi3 MAX with higher performance and a faster top speed of 35 km/h (22 mph).

NIU's electric bicycle lineup is expanding, and NIU shared its latest BQi electric bicycle.

This electric bicycle uses a single-speed belt drive and a 250W Bafang hub motor (500W in North America). A pair of NIU's detachable batteries form a V shape in the stepping frame. The rear frame and accompanying mudguards increase the practicality of the bike.

BQi will be integrated with NIU's smartphone application and help bicycles take advantage of NIU's safety features and smart technology.

The debut price of this electric bike is less than 1,500 euros, which will help it become one of the more affordable belt-driven electric bikes in this price range.

In addition to the full electric lineup, NIU also showcased its YQi concept scooter, which adds a gas-powered engine to the electric drive system to create a hybrid power designed to help young gas-powered scooter enthusiasts Get rid of fossil fuels.

The company has confirmed that it will include "150cc liquid-cooled engine and 2400W mid-mounted electric motor to achieve the maximum speed and acceleration time of a 250cc motorcycle."

A total of 14.5 kW of power can be provided between the gasoline engine and the electric engine, which can provide speeds of up to 110 km/h (68 mph).
