EV manufacturer Okinawa Autotech has inaugurated its mega factory in Karoli, Rajasthan.

The facility is touted to be one of the most comprehensive units built by the company.

It will have state-of-the-art production facilities and will be the company’s third plant alongside factories in Alwar and Bhiwadi.

Spread across 30 acres, it employs over 5000 people.

The megafactory will have the capacity to roll out a total of 1 million (10 lakh) units per annum.

For Okinawa, it will be the largest, fully integrated electric two-wheeler plant ever in India.

They have put Rs 500 crore into it.

It will become operational by October 2023.

Founder, and MD Jeetender Sharma said that they are committed to “addressing the most significant issues” faced by the electric two-wheeler segment.

The R&D facilities in the plant will be “futuristic” to ensure that they meet the sector’s demand ahead.

The plant will be used for not just manufacturing.

It also has a supplier park that will take account of motors, controllers, battery packs, and other electrical parts which support the complete EV ecosystem.

It is expected to be fully automatic for manufacturing the vehicles as well as automation for powertrain manufacturing.

There will be an in-house automatic robotic battery manufacturing unit along with an integrated  motor and controller plant.

Other features include robotic automation of plastic body parts molding, and a state-of-the-art paint shop to facilitate the localization in the production process while the plastic body parts will also be molded by machines.

Okinawa’s new facility will be crucial to meet the increase in demand for electric two-wheelers in the country.

It will also double as an export hub for the company which will eventually distribute its products to overseas markets with the help of Tacita.
