Although the name of Radio Flyer may give some people a nostalgic red pony car (or the youngest generation of little red Tesla), the company is now getting involved in electric two-wheelers and offering a new pair for adults Fat tire electric bike.

As Robert Pasin, Chief Truck Officer of Radio Flyer, explained:

"We have inspired the creative games of generations of families, so it was a natural choice to launch a product line that provides adults with an interesting way to explore the world. This is a huge milestone for us and truly reflects our eternal The determination to keep innovating, even for traditional brands like Radio Flyer."

The new electric bicycle series is called FLYER and includes two different frame styles designed for practical and leisure riding.

The first model, called Flyer M880, adopted a more cruiser/practical combination design.

This electric bike is equipped with fat tires with large 26-inch wheels, but combines them with a leisurely striding frame with adjustable high handlebars.

The company actually refers to it as a mid-tail cargo bike, thanks to its large rear rack, nodding to its potential role as a multifunctional electric bike. The design load capacity of the rear frame is 80 lbs (36 kg), while the rated load of the entire bicycle is 300 lbs (136 kg).

The Flyer M880 measures a rider between 5'2” – 6'3” (157-191 cm) and claims to be able to support an additional passenger-assuming their weight is less than 80 pounds (36 kg).

The bicycle is equipped with a half-twist accelerator and a rhythm-based pedal assist sensor, which can provide five pedal assist speeds.

The 500W rear wheel hub motor is paired with a 720 Wh large battery to create an electric power system, while the pedal power system selects the 7-speed Shimano setting. According to the company, using them at the same time, you can extend the range up to 50 miles (80 kilometers).

All in all, the price of Flyer M880 before the upgrade is $1,699.

For parents who wish to carry two small passengers on their backs, Flyer L885 is a better choice.

This electric bicycle uses a long-tail cargo bike design with a stretched rear frame with pedals that can support bundled goods or the feet of a pair of passengers.

The longer rear frame has a rated load of 150 lbs (68 kg), while the entire bike can carry 400 lbs (181 kg).

The L885 gets the same electric transmission system as the M880. Thanks to its 500W electric motor, the top speed of the two bicycles is 20 mph (32 km/h) when only the throttle is operated.

The Flyer L885 also uses thick tires like the M880, but the rear 26-inch wheels are replaced with smaller 20-inch wheels to make room for more cargo and a lower center of gravity. We have seen this before on RadWagon, although the bike reduces the diameter of the two wheels to 22 inches to create a more flexible, lower center of gravity cargo electric bike.

Flyer L885 starts at $1,999. Both bikes are equipped with lights, mudguards and mechanical disc brakes. Both do not include a suspension, so make sure not to over-inflate these tires or you will experience bumps.

Both models are expected to start shipping in October 2021.
